The School Safety Patrol is an organization sponsored by AAA insurance, is consists of selected boys and girls from the upper elementary grades who help their schoolmates to avoid street traffic accidents. Fundamentally, the Patrol member’s job is to remind children of safety rules. They also remind drivers of the presence of pedestrians.

Parents’ permission for service on the Patrol is required. The selected boys and girls are instructred and trained carefully in their duties and designated positions. Patrol members must be at their designated posts every school day according to their time schedule and post location.

The 7th & 8th grade students have the opportunity to participate in the School Safety Patrol program. After studying a rule book and passing the membership test, the 7th grade students shadow all of the patrol positions and learn each job. The 8th grade students continue to be patrols but do not have to be retested. The students are assigned a position for 2 week time periods and alternate between 7th and 8th grade patrols. Each student must try (dependent upon transportation) to patrol all positions at some point during the school year. If they cannot patrol, they must find their own replacement.

Safety Patrol Captains

Griffen Becker
Ella Jackstadt

Two students are selected to be Safety Patrol Captains. Other teacher recommendations are taken into account to help determine who becomes safety patrol captains. Captains are determined by the safety patrol sponsor. Organization, honesty and character play a major role in the decision.

Congratulations to both Jenna and Madi.

School Safety Patrol membership is an honored position. As a reward for participation and performance of patrol duties, the 7th & 8th grade patrol members are given an annual Safety Patrol field trip to Busch Stadium to watch a Cardinals Game.

Morning Patrol Duty

  • Patrollers are required to be present and ready at their position at 7:20am
  • If your child is a bus rider they should immediately prepare to patrol after they exit the bus.
  • Patrol students should not go into the building until after their patrol position. We have an exterior closet outside where the gear is located. The student should drop their personal items in the closet and patrol immediately.
  • Morning Patrol time 7:20am-7:35am. The patrollers should stay at their post until 7:35am. Morning religion teachers are aware of the student patrollers and encourage them to stay out until 7:35am to ensure the safety of our students
  • These are the requirements for both 7th and 8th grade. This includes when 7th grade shadows an 8th grader.
