Week of September 6th
Reading – We will be reading the story, “The Ballad of Mulan”. The skill we will be focusing on is making inferences about the story and characters. Vocabulary words include: armor, comrades, endured, farewell, triumphant, troops, and victorious. Test Wednesday, September 15
Spelling – We will continue to focus on short vowels. The words are as follows: pond, luck, drop, lot, rub, does, drum, sock, hunt, crop, shut, won, dodge, and dusk. Test Tuesday, September 14
English – Students will be learning about the four kinds of sentences: statement, question, command, and exclamation.
Math – We will continue chapter 1, “Place Value”. Please practice addition and subtraction facts with your child.
Health: Continue chapter 1, “Mental and Emotional Health”
Science: We will continue chapter 1, “Plants and How They Grow”
Social Studies: We will continue chapter 1, “What are Communities?”
Reminders:
* No School on Monday, September 6
* Please sign or initial your child’s Student Assignment Book each
evening, after checking to see that the assignments are all completed.
* Please empty your child’s folder daily if it is a graded paper or other
school information. Thanks!!
* Please make sure your child is reading a chapter book 15 minutes every
night. There will be a book report to complete at the end of September
over this book.
