Dabbleboard Flowcharts

We will first discuss the structure of a flowchart (doing this together in class).

Next, using dabbleboard.com, we will each create a flowchart detailing steps for one of the following procedures.

Remember!!!  Each flowchart must include a start, a stop, actions (# of actions is up to you), and at least two decision boxes.

Examples of flowcharts can be found on the dabbleboard site. This will be an individual project.

Making a sandwich

Washing your face

Toasting a marshmallow

Island Adventure

You are stranded on a deserted island. The weather is warm, but not too hot. You have plenty of fresh water and shade, but you are getting hungry. You notice that a school of fish swim in the lagoon.

Think about the equipment that you have brought along.

What could you use to help you catch some fish? Explain how you would catch them?

Did you bring anything along to start a fire? If you did, how would you do it?

Aztec Pyramid

You are in the grand courtyard of the Plaza of the Sun. An ancient Aztec pyramid stands before you.

As you finish your lunch, you notice that a dozen snakes are wriggling towards you and have you surrounded!

Think about the equipment that you have brought along.

Do you have anything that may help you escape the snakes? If so, how would you use it?

After escaping the snakes, you find a secret room at the base of the pyramid. In the room are Aztec hieroglyphics. You would like to record these to bring to the archeology department at SIUE.

Think about the equipment that you have brought along.

How would you make some recording of the hieroglyphics?

Local Customs

You are in an island paradise. The village elder wants to have a celebration in your honor.

The villagers have a wonderful feast for you and the elder gives you a beautiful carving of wood

as a gift.

Think about the equipment that you have brought along.

What do you have that you could give to the village elder as a gift? Do you think your gift is a good representation of your own cultural background? Why or why not?
